Bitch, Slut, Butch, Blond ; Graphic Design Thesis
A visual exploration of my thesis statement, which states that gender stereotypes are responsible for perpetuating a culture of females who are dissatisfied with self, and obsessed with labels and self transformation.
I asked female friends and family, of varying age range, to respond to the question: if you could be any other female for the day, who would it be, and why?
I photographed my subjects in combination with a visual representation of their response. The resulting photographs gave a glimpse into our current female culture – who we hold up as our idols, what qualities in females we value as a community, and how stereotypes have influenced our individuality.
